Raspberry PiThe BCS is collaborating with @Bristol and the University of Bristol to bring you the Digi Makers

A series of community technology events aimed at children, parents and teachers. This is an introduction to 'making' in the digital word, to inspire the next generation of technical innovators and engineers. From programming software to hacking hardware, we want to show you more ways to have fun with technology.

DigiMakers; is a family event which aims to inspire the next generation of technology innovators. From programming software to hacking hardware our aim is to provide an introduction to 'making' in the digital word.

There are three sections to the event:

Hands-on-workshops: In the past this has included activities that use Raspberry Pi, Arduino and Lego Mind Storms and software tools like Twine. We have run programming classes in Ruby on Rails, Python and Scratch. Each workshop usually lasts for 1-2 hours but equally an activity could last the entire day. Typically workshops include 10-15 participants but again this is not set in stone. We aim to organise activities that will attract a range of skill levels from beginners to advanced level. Most people are able to bring a laptop with them and we will have a small number of monitors and keyboards, and Raspberry Pi's available.

Drop-in clinic: Is for those people who have just bought a Raspberry Pi and are not sure what to do next, there are students on hand to help them get started and talk them through the environment.

Show-and tell: This is where we invite volunteers to come along and talk about their expert level or hobby projects. This can be anything technology based. In this section you will sit at a table and talk to people or give a demo of the project as they move between workshops.
